This is the core of what we do and is one of the most popular dance classes in Oxford. As a result, we have a thriving community of dancers at all levels, and we provide ourselves on the warm welcome we provide to new dancers. Consequently, Wednesday nights are all about structured learning, progression community and fun. Our teachers, Chris & Lucy Taylor, are respected well beyond Oxford and we have people travelling quite long distances to join their classes. Their reputation is one that enables every dancer to experience the joy of dancing whilst also providing flawless technique in a way that is enjoyable and easy to understand.
Classes are carefully designed to suit beginners discovering swing dance for the first time, as well as more experienced dancers looking to refine their technique, musicality and confidence on the dance floor. Friday Night Swing Time With Nikki Santilli & OUDC
In addition to our weekly classes, Swing Dance Summertown proudly collaborates with the Oxford University Dance Sport Club (OUDC). The partnership delivers a special weekly event known as Friday Night Swing Time. These Friday night classes bring together students, locals and visitors for an energetic and inspiring end to the week. Swing dance and Lindy Hop is for everyone. Consequently, this class brings both Town & Gown together as a community class. Whether you are a student, or if your student days are a distant memory from another place, everyone comes together for Friday Night Swing Time. Swing Time is at 6pm and Friday night means it is Swing Time Up At Oxford.
Friday Night Swing Time is led by professional dance teacher, dancer, choreographer and performer, Nikki Santilli. Nikki is a highly respected and established dance teacher in London, where she runs her own regular dance classes. Each Friday she makes the journey up to Oxford to bring professional teaching to Oxford dancers. Firstly, this is a unique arrangement. It means that the quality of teaching we offer is as good as anywhere else in the country. Secondly, Nikki offers a level of expertise and experience that sets her classes apart. Swing Time is recognised as the only professional swing dance class in Oxford. It’s a unique opportunity for dancers who want expert instruction in a supportive environment.
