OSD Summertown Swing Social Tea Dance For July 2024.

Sunday 14th July 2024 from 2:00pm until 5:30pm.

St Michael’s Church Hall, 2 Portland Road, Oxford OX2 7EZ.

The OSD Summertown Swing Social Tea Dance is back on Sunday 14th July. That means it’s time for the regular Sunday afternoon Tea Dance complete with music, dancing and cake.

As many of you now know, Leslie and the rest of the Oxford Swing Dance Team have decided to gradually wind down their operations. This will be the last OSD Summertown Swing Social Tea Dance. It is going to be a an absolute belter of an afternoon and everybody at Swing Dance Summertown will be lending a hand to ensure that this goes off with the fanfare that befits the huge contribution that Oxford Swing Dance have made to dancing in Oxford.

The reason any of us dance here can be traced back to the decisions that Pam and Leslie made when they first setup Oxford Swing Dance in 1995. Over the past 29 years they have taught tens of thousands of people how to Swing Dance. Consequently, we invite you to join us to show our collective gratitude for that with a huge turnout. We would like to see every Swing Dance Summertown member past and present for this one if you are available.

All your local DJs will be at work again as they play some great tunes to get your happy feet tapping to the Swing Beat. We play everything from the 1920s to the 2020s. There is an old school CD DJ set as well as more modern digital formats remastered from the originals. All this for your dancing pleasure.

Tea & Cake & A Warm Welcome For Families

One of the highlights of the Tea Dance is the cake table. For those who enjoy a treat there will be some wonderful treats to enjoy with your tea and coffee. There will also be some savoury snacks for those who don’t have a sweet tooth. Come along and catch up with friends for a relaxed and enjoyable afternoon of music and dancing.

Summertown Swing Social offers a welcome to everyone and tries to provide a unique environment where dancers feel able to bring their non-dancing family and children. It’s perfect for young families who don’t feel they get the time to get out to dance anymore. It also provides an opportunity to catch up with friends.

We have had people driving over from Middlesex, Bedford, Bristol and Birmingham so its also a great way to meet new people and chat whilst you dance the afternoon away. Come and meet new dancing friends and catch up with others you haven’t seen in ages. The venue has free car parking which makes it really convenient too. St Michael’s offers a lovely venue to spend the afternoon with a great dance floor to bust your best moves.
