Step into an unforgettable night of live Jazz Swing at The Summertown Speakeasy Live. The Big Saturday Dance Night Out returns on Saturday 16th May 2026. Head to The Cherwell School North Site, in Oxford as we bring back the ballroom to Oxford.
We will transport you to a vibrant, vintage-inspired atmosphere from the moment the doors open at 8pm. The Speakeasy is where music, dance and community all come together as we conjure the Spirit of The Jazz Age. We keep going until late when the music stops at 11pm. Consequently this special edition of our much-loved Summertown Speakeasy features the electrifying sound of The Cutting Edge Big Band. As a result we welcome their full Orchestra back to the Speakeasy Stage for another great night of jazz swing delivering the rich, powerful sound that defined the golden age of swing.
Cutting Edge At Speakeasy Live May 2026
The band comprise a full horn section, driving rhythm, and two outstanding vocalists. Consequently they bring classic swing tunes to life—perfect for Lindy Hop, social dancing, or simply soaking up the atmosphere. Whether you’re an experienced dancer or just love live music, this is a rare chance to experience authentic big band swing right here in Oxford.

The Summertown Speakeasy Big Saturday Dance Night Out
Expect all the signature Speakeasy touches. They combine to make our events so special. Consquently we offer a welcoming dance floor, a friendly crowd, and that unique blend of relaxed elegance and vintage charm. As a result your evening feels immersive without being intimidating. Come dressed up, dressed down, or somewhere in between.
Our main feature at The Summertown Speakeasy is our enormous wooden dance floor. It invites social dancing all night and provides you with all the room you need to swing out for a great evening. Consequently Lindy Hop, Swing and Ballroom styles of partnered dances are all welcome on our dance floor. Dance the night away as we play Big Band Jazz Swing all through the evening. It is our mission to Bring Back The Ballroom to Oxford and our Speakeasy nights aim to do exactly that.
Your Ticket entry includes refreshments at our generous Nibbles Table. It is stocked with snacks & refreshments. These include Tea, Coffee and Squash. For those who are a little hungry it also includes cheeses, dips, fresh vegetables (for the dips), crackers, cakes and other delicious munch-ables. As a result everything is included with your entry price and we invite you to help yourselves in the cafe area. Consequently it is all waiting for you at the back of the venue.
This is also where you will find a series of tables for you to sit and relax. Grab whichever one suits you and you are all set for the evenings entertainment.
The Main Event Live Onstage
The stage overlooks the dance floor and provides a professional PA system to provide perfect sound for your dancing pleasure.
We set the mood with our specially made art deco lighting that provides vintage glamour to the evening.
Another feature is our giant projector screen showing an ambient film presentation when the band is not playing.
We also provide free off-road car parking at the venue for everyone. It is one of those little things that makes the night easier and cheaper.
Like everything we do, Summertown Members are able to buy discounted tickets but we price The Speakeasy so that non-dancing guests and partners will still receive a competitive package for the evening. We want this to be for everyone and offer exceptional value for the evening.

If you would like to reserve a table (8 people minimum) we are happy to do this for you. Please email us and let us know how many are in your party and we can reserve it for you.
We do not have a license for a cash bar at The Summertown Speakeasy Live. You are welcome to bring in any other refreshments you wish. We will provide complimentary coffee, tea and squash alongside all our other refreshments on the nibbles table.
Our DJs will be on hand at the beginning of the evening and during the band’s breaks to provide non-stop Jazz Swing music throughout the night. Therefore there will be no point when music is not playing. You are encouraged to take advantage of our huge dance floor throughout the evening which is perfect for Ballroom and Swing dancers.
