Join us for Summertown Speakeasy June 2025. After the success of Speakeasy Live in May 2025, we are back. We return to our DJ format for another Summertown Speakeasy June 2025 edition. Join us for a great evening of Big Band Jazz Swing. Our enormous dance floor is waiting for you to demonstrate all your best dance moves.
The Summertown Speakeasy June 2025 sees the return of the Big Saturday Jazz & Swing Dance Night Out. Whenever it is the 3rd Saturday of the month, check your calendar for the Speakeasy. Once again our DJs will be at the decks. They will play the best in Jazz Swing all night for Jazz fans and dancers. We would love you to join us.
What is The Speakeasy?
The Speakeasy is Oxford’s newest regular Jazz Swing & Dance night. It offers you more of everything for a great night out. Join us on Saturday 21st June 2025 for music dancing and a night of glamour. At 8pm we open the doors to our Art Deco Ballroom once more. We look forward to welcoming you for a great night out that you will not want to miss. Its time to give your dance shoes a polish and select your Saturday Night outfit. It will be a great night of Jazz Swing & dancing. Tell your friends and make your way to Oxford for The Summertown Speakeasy.
The main feature of the Speakeasy is the absolutely huge dance that gives you oodles of space to Swing-Out and bust your best moves. We’ve had 100 people on there and it still didn’t look full. Consequently it is one of Oxford’s largest spaces to dance and the largest space to social dance regularly for miles around.
Whether you dance Lindy Hop, Balboa, Collegiate Shag Foxtrot or Quickstep, there is a home for you on our dance floor. Similarly, if you just want to enjoy the spectacle of the dancers with the music playing. Savour the refreshments in our cafe area, because there is a table waiting for you at The Speakeasy.
What is the Speakeasy like?
The experience starts the moment that you arrive. Firstly, you head down the steps into the courtyard for the entrance. There is free parking at the venue with room for over 70 cars. Directly follow the signs and you won’t miss the entrance. As you then enter the main door, you will see the stage to your right and the dance floor in front of you.
This is where the magic happens.
If you turn to your left you will find a some steps leading up to a raised platform. This is where you will find our seated area with tables laid out and waiting for you. It is set out in a cafe style layout with refreshments to help yourself. Everything is included in the entry price. Find yourself a table for the night and you are all set. Each table seats between 8 and 10 people so feel free to double up with other people and get to know each other. As a result, this is a night where everyone is a friend, even the ones you haven’t met yet.

The cafe tables are all bedecked with a black table cloth and their own art deco table lamp which provides a touch of vintage glamour. Consequently, a freshly cut flower is there as a centre piece. You can either help yourself to the buffet with cakes, and savoury snacks or you can bring anything you wish in with you. We do not have a cash bar at The Speakeasy so we cannot serve or sell alcohol, but if you would like to bring a hamper in with you and your favourite beverage, we are very happy for you to do that.
The evening is yours to spend as you wish. Whether it is simply to listen to the music and watch the dancers, or if yuo would like to join us on the dance floor. We want you to have a wonderful evening and you are free to join in as much or as little as you wish. The Speakeasy was made for dancers and we have seen all the Jazz Swing dance styles on our dance floor. We have a professional sound system and ensure that we deliver the best musical experience for everyone.
How much does the Summertown Speakeasy June 2025 cost?
Admission : £8 Members – £12 Non-Members (Summertown Membership costs £30 for the year and entitles you to discounts at all our classes and events). We accept all forms of payment with Cash, Card and contactless are welcome.
We strive to recapture the vintage glamour of the great ballrooms of ‘The Jazz Age’. This term was made famous by F Scott Fitzgerald in his collection of eleven short stories called “Tales Of The Jazz Age”. Consequently do everything we can to give The Speakeasy a touch vintage glamour to echo the times that Fitzgerald lived through. It is a haven for those who love to dance Lindy Hop, Swing or Ballroom styles but also for those who love listening to the music and watching the dancers. Our aim is that it will be somewhere you want to come back to again and again.
How to find us
If you approach along Marston Ferry Road from Headington & Marston. Head towards the Banbury Road junction, the turning is on the right just before you reach the junction.
If you approach from Banbury Road. Take the turning for Marston Ferry Road and the entrance will be a left turn into the school. It’s about 0.2 miles so keep an eye out for the turning.
Problems with Sat-Nav
Apparently, there is an issue using the postcode with Sat Nav that directs you wrongly. This is due to a shared postcode. If you are using Sat Nav please ensure you enter “Cherwell School NORTH Site” on Marston Ferry Road.
Please note. If you attend our weekly Wednesday night classes, you are going to the other site on the opposite side of the road. The Summertown Speakeasy is at the North Site, not the South Site. If you go to the South site you will be on the wrong side of the road. Hopefully that wont be too confusing for everyone. We will make plenty of announcements at class to hopefully remind everyone.

Free Parking at The Speakeasy
Another of the huge advantages of the Speakeasy is that we have a dedicated off road and free car park for all our guests. Just drive in through the gates and you are immediately removed from the hassle and cost of city parking. It makes an evening at The Speakeasy just that little bit cheaper and therefore much better value.
Summertown Speakeasy June 2025 Entrance & Membership
You can purchase Membership for £30 per year. If you were planning to make this a regular event in your calendar then membership will save you money as the Member’s entrance rate is only £8. Your membership card also entitles you to reduced admission for any of our dance classes (Currently on a Wednesday night) and any of our other events such as The Summertown Swing Sunday Tea Dance Club.
For events where spaces are limited, such as our Blenheim Palace social dances, we also provide preferential access to Members. Therefore there is more to enjoy from Membership than just one event. Membership can be purchased at any time in the calendar and runs from the start of the term you purchase it to the start of the corresponding term the following year.
