Swing Dance Summertown are very happy to announce the return of the Summertown Swing Sunday Tea Dance Club 14/12/2025 in Oxford and invite everyone to attend in December for a special Christmas dance. Last year we invited you into a fairy light lit grotto of swing and we hope you will join us again this year for another great afternoon of festive Jazz tracks to keep your feet jumping on the dance floor.  Come along and see what we can do with the decor.

Tea & Cake & A Warm Welcome For Everyone

One of the highlights of the Tea Dance is the cake table. For those who enjoy a treat there will be some wonderful cakes to enjoy with your tea and coffee. We provide ‘free-from’ options. There will also be some savoury snacks including cucumber sandwiches for those who don’t have a sweet tooth. Come along and catch up with friends for a relaxed and enjoyable afternoon of music and dancing.

Summertown Swing offers a welcome to everyone and tries to provide a unique environment where dancers feel able to bring their non-dancing family and children. It’s perfect for young families who don’t feel they get the time to get out to dance anymore. It also provides an opportunity to catch up with friends.

We have had people driving over from Middlesex, Hertfordshire, Cheltenham, Bedford, Bristol and Birmingham so its also a great way to meet new people and chat whilst you dance the afternoon away. Come and meet new dancing friends and catch up with others you haven’t seen in ages. The venue does provide some Free Car Parking although we advise you to get there early as the spaces soon go. For those arriving later, there are plenty of Car Parking options.

St Michael’s offers a lovely venue to spend the afternoon with a great dance floor to bust your best moves.

Find us on Portland Road for Summertown Swing Sunday Tea Dance Club 14/12/2025

If you are coming from the Town Centre there are quite a few buses that travel along The Banbury Road, and they run fairly frequently. City2 buses (2, 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D) all stop directly opposite the venue.
There are also buses that run from the The John Radcliffe Hospital from Headington. These run along Cherwell Drive before turning and heading up Banbury Road to Summertown. (700 and H2).

In all cases, alight at the South Parade bus stop. Portland Road is the turning on the opposite side of the street.

For those coming by car, The Summertown Exit on the A40 provides a quick and easy way to drive down with the turning on the left as you approach The Summertown Shops. Look out for the Dancing Dragon Chinese Restaurant on your right and Portland Road is the next turning on your Left. This route also avoids congestion charges.

You can park on Portland Road and any of the other side streets without charge on a Sunday. That makes a trip out to the Summertown Swing Sunday Tea Dance Club a lot more pleasant and convenient.

This Google Map shows exactly where St Michaels Church Hall is.

Once you arrive, just walk up the stone steps to the upper hall. You will probably hear the music playing already so we should be pretty easy to find.

There is free on-street parking on Sundays on Portland Road and surrounding side streets near St. Michael’s Church Hall.

Whether you’re dancing cheek-to-cheek in a slow foxtrot, bounding through a Collegiate Shag, or swinging out with a partner in true Lindy fashion, you’ll find music. We also provide an atmosphere to match your mood.

Add plenty of cakes and refreshments to that, and you’ve got the perfect way to spend a Sunday.

So dust off your dancing shoes, gather your friends, and join us for a great dancing afternoon. Come celebrates style, connection, and vintage flair on our dance.
