40s Valentines Evening Dance in Melton Mowbray

The Royal British Legion, 12-14 Thorpe End, Melton Mowbray LE13 1RB

Saturday 11th February 2023, 7:00pm – Midnight

There is a 40s Valentines Evening Dance in Melton Mowbray. This is a fundraiser evening for The Royal British Legion. A group of highly motivated members took over the role as committee and have been hard at work orgnanising events designed to make the centre a viable venue for the town. This is the latest of their special vintage events and will feature a buffet dinner dance format with live entertainment for dancers and lovers of vintage Jazz Swing.

Performing live is Miss Lily Lovejoy, & Oxfordshire’s own Beau Norton, along with The Ashby Little Big Band, and The Blitz Dancers.
Tickets are £18.50 and can be purchased by emailing fortiesmmevents@hotmail.com

We last met Lily at the Cholsey & Wallingford Railway Vintage Weekend event last year where she performed alongside May Blossom. Beau Norton has recently been performing alongside Oxford Classic Jazz in Banbury.

The Ashby Little Big Band was the idea of Ashby-de-la-Zouch trumpeter David Bradford who not only wanted to offer local musicians the chance to play in one of the best big bands around, but to also give the local community a band they could be proud of. The band is now one of the best Glenn Miller/1940s tribute bands in the country, with many players living in the Ashby area and players also coming from as far afield as Birmingham, London and Sheffield.
The Ashby ‘little’ Big Band is a 6 to 8 piece  band consisting of saxes, brass and rhythm and our most popular size band. This band also rehearse monthly and perform at events across the UK where space or budget is a constraint. With bespoke arrangements and expert sound technicians, the “little” Big Band sounds like a band twice its size.
Join Lily & Beau to celebrate St Valentine’s Day.
