Big Band Double Header July 2022

Every month, our friends The Velvet Tones present the Big Band Double Header. This month the Big Band Double Header July 2022 features the Carpathians. This is a free entry gig with donations requested and expected for a nominated charity of the night.

The Carpathians return following a great night of Jazz Swing on their last visit. The nominated charity is Sobell House Hospice. Sobell House is a hospice based on the Churchill Hospital site and is part of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It is jointly funded by the NHS and Sobell House Hospice Charity. They offer specialist palliative care to those facing life threatening illness, death and bereavement in Oxfordshire. This encompasses physical, psychological, social and spiritual care and includes supporting their families and those close to them. Swing Dance Summertown are proud to support this regular monthly gig and our dancers are one of the reasons why people come along with the great musicians and singers all performing their hearts out.

The music starts at 8:00pm and goes on until late.  The first set will feature The Velvet Tones with Richard and Claire as vocalists.  The Carpathaians will follow around 9:30pm after the break.  There is a dance floor throughout the evening, as well as a bar.
