Oxford Swing Dance continue their program of events with the Sunday afternoon Summertown Swing Tea Dance For Christmas 2023.
Every second Sunday of the month come along for a lovely afternoon of Jazz Swing music, swing dancing, and a friendly welcome for everyone. This month is of course special as we start the Christmas celebrations. Our DJs will be at work again to play some seasonal favourites as well as other great swing tunes to get your happy feet tapping. We play everything from the 1920s to the 2020s. There is an old school CD DJ set as well as more modern digital formats remastered from the originals. All this for your dancing pleasure as we Hop the swing beat this Christmas.
Festive cheer, tea, cake & A warm welcome for everyone
For those who enjoy a treat there will be some wonderful cake to enjoy with your tea and coffee. There will also be some savoury snacks for those who don’t have a sweet tooth. Come along and catch up with friends for a relaxed and enjoyable afternoon of music and dancing.
Summertown Swing Social offers a welcome to everyone and tries to provide a unique environment where dancers are able to bring their non-dancing family and children. It’s perfect for young families who don’t feel they get the time to get out to dance anymore. It also provides an opportunity to catch up on what everyone has been up to. Recently we have spotted a few toddlers who have been studying mum and dad’s dance moves and are already looking destined to be swing dancers in the future. We look forward to seeing that happen.
This is an opportunity to bring out the Christmas Jumpers and Santa hats for an afternoon of dancing before the rush to Christmas day starts.
There have also been a lot of visiters recently with people driving from as far as Middlesex, Hertfordshire, Bedford, Bristol and Birmingham. We hope to see all of you for this special end to the year of events. Its also a great way to meet new people and chat whilst you dance the afternoon away. Come and meet new dancing friends and catch up with others you haven’t seen in ages. The venue has free car parking which makes it really convenient too. If the car park does over spill there is also free parking on the street on a Sunday. St Michael’s offers a lovely venue to spend the afternoon with a great dance floor to bust your best moves.

Just come along and pay £6 each on the door. We take cash or a contactless payment.
If you have been attending our swing dance classes and are thinking about taking your first steps onto the social dance floor, then this is a warm, friendly and supportive environment to do it. Join us for a great afternoon of music, dancing chatting and cake. Remember that cake is guilt free as long as you keep dancing!
